The many books about Kaua’i include history (versions differ widely in some areas), tourism, scientific, flora and fauna, birds, and more.
Some good ones are: Kaua’i: a Separate Kingdom, The Shoals of Time, Atlas of Hawaii (Univ. of Hawaii Press, latest edition), Geologic History of Kaua’i, and some more controversial about how Hawai’i became a Kingdom, then a Republic, then a U.S. Territory, then, at last, the 50th State of the U.S.A. Books about the European discovery by Captain Cook and his later demise, and the original settlements founded by the greatest open sea navigators in history thousands of years ago. Some read like dramatic fiction but are based on established fact. Just Google ‘books about Kaua’i’ and you’ll find a long list, or on www.amazon.com
