POLYNESIAN CANOE FLOTILLA ARRIVES AT KAUAI’S HANALEI BAY

Another extraordinary epic of maritime genius, guts and glory, as seven Polynesian double-hulled sailing ships traversed the Pacific Ocean from New Zealand, two months at sea.

The sailing craft were modeled and sailed using ancient Polynesian navigation practices and without modern navigation instruments.

They are next bound for San Francisco.  Their website is www.pacificvoyagers.org, and their story and progress can be followed online.  Ultimately, they will sail for Rapa Nui, Marquesas, and Tahiti.  These voyages began a few years ago with a single similar craft, which inspired a ground swell of amazement and keen interest.
